[024] Since Complains are Unresolved

Image
I read that customer calls nowadays in the US are subcontracted to India, but what about Singapore? From my personal experience, they always sound Filipino and address us as "Mam...", perhaps they're  based in Philippines??? Maybe I should ask them next time... yes... when I'm feeling very bored...

Molecular Gastronomy in Tokyo?

Image
After a Vermeer art exhibition at Bunkamura, Shibuya, my friend and I went to a French restaurant called Chez Matsuo that offered a glass of free grapefruit juice with every Vermeer ticket. Our appetizer's presentation was contemporary and had a great use of color. But what intrigued me was the leaves that looked like as if bubbles were attached to them!?

Facebook scam: roller coaster orgasm

Image
Basically this scam starts from your friend/s sharing a video entitled "This woman has a orgasm on a roller coaster". Clicking on it will bring you to a YouTube phishing site that requests for a verification code and survey. What it does is actually to obtain your answers to help them earn money, then possibly hacking into your account after you'd done the survey. Of course, it will replicate the link back into your Facebook wall, thereby completing the viral spread to your friends. More details can be found via googling. Take care everyone!

[021] Customer Service

Image
Do you like this series Goin NUTZ? Would you like to see more? What do you think about the dog? Should the dog be white? Does color make a difference? Do you think there should be less words? Should I talk less and draw more? Please let me know what you think!

[020] End of the World 21st May 5月21日世界末日

Image
So the supposed Judgement day insisted by Christian Family Radio's founder, Harold Camping had been proved wrong. They even put a big ad in my free copy of Wall Street Journal to publicize about their free book. I guess they succeeded in making the headlines. But like the wolf story, they lost all credibility. For the rest of us, life goes on as usual. I think it's important to enjoy life and do things that we‘ll not regret so even if tomorrow is the end of the world, we’re cool with it, right?

[019] Are Our Calls Really Important?

Image
Obviously, my experience with CitiB**k's customer service had been pretty disappointing, but they're the only foreign bank with decent penetration in Japan. Unlike the automated call answering machines that many Singaporean companies adopt for their customer service, Japanese companies usually use real humans to pick up the calls! I was so surprised that I asked the other party if she was a robot...

Eat at Shinagawa, Drink at Neko Cafe

Image
Facebook is amazing. I got to catch up with a high school friend whom we had never seen each other since graduation 14 years ago. The first place we reunited? Shinagawa station in Tokyo. The first restaurant we went? Wanofu, a traditional Japanese restaurant located right inside a shopping mall inside the station! She ordered the unagi-don set that cost 1500yen and I ordered the more expensive "flower" set that cost 3600yen, my most expensive splurge on meals on record in Japan!

[016] Spendthrift

Image
Blogger was having some problems last week and it seems okay now. I suspect that it could be the new location widget that they put on our new post function that caused data corruption. Anyway, a few comments were lost so please leave your comments again~ P.S. After showing my comic strips to a new classmate, he was apparently more attracted to colored ones than B&W versions. So I guess from now on I'll do my best to color every single strip. Do you all prefer color as well? If you like any of the strip, please click the "Like" button on the top left to help me advertise in your Facebook, thank you very much and have a nice Sunday!

[015] Japanese Marketing

Image
I find that Japanese shops here (particularly skincare like Fancl and L'occitane) love to give out loads of promotion materials whenever I order something from their internet shops. It's interesting to go through all of them because I would found some interesting products that I'd missed out in their internet shop. But at the end of the day, all marketing material will end up in my recycle bin, all except for one piece of paper, that is the one with the discount code :P Would you A) Go ECO and insist that everything is delivered through email ...or prefer B) Receive hard copy promotional materials and magazines?

[014] I hate Glossy

Image
I dislike to see the reflection of my ceiling lights or myself on the monitor so I'd always wished that iMac-s have the matte screen option. Unfortunately, even the MacMatte online petition doesn't work with only 1474 responses so far. I guess you'll need like 100,000 to even get Steve Jobs to think about it. What about you? Do you prefer matte or glossy?

Defenses Breached 5 (cockroaches)

Image
Ever since my neighbor opposite moved out, her cockroaches had  been forced to look for new havens, such as my room. When times were good, I could kill 12 a day, but when business was bad like yesterday, I could only kill 2 (all nymphs). Ever since their emergence, I'd wrapped up all leftover food and cleared my trash almost everyday, but still they came, hungry and looking for food and water. I complained to the dormitory office and was given 3 traps to lure them to their death. Unfortunately, most of the roaches were smart enough to not get their feet stuck onto the sticky tape and crawled out thinking "which dumbass could have laid this ancient trap". Hence, I returned to the most effective way of smashing them with papers.

[013] The Heat 熱

Image
It's getting a bit warm now in Japan but the election heat in Singapore is simmering down. I'd been listening to radio 100.3 online until the very last result from Potong Pasir was released. I'm happy that the opposition team is making history by winning a GRC but unfortunately we lost George Yeo and Mr. Chiam See Tong. However, a comforting phenomena is that finally, it feels as if the entire nation is concerned about the future of our country!!! Now, we just need to figure out on how to get rid of the infamous bimbo from parliament... Replace Tin Pei Ling with George Yeo in Marine Parade by-election? I do not want Tin Pei Ling in Parliament (Facebook, 43,359 likes currently ) Petition to remove Tin Pei Ling as a MP (Facebook, 36,784 likes currently) Disqualification of the PAP marine parade team (online petition, 4524 signatures currently)

[012] Happy Mother's Day 母親節快樂

Image
Friday is cooling-off day, so I shall spare readers from my election rantings to something more heart-warming. Yes, it's time to thank our mothers "officially" again. Unfortunately, I am not with my mum this year to bring her out for a nice dinner, to sit together with her to watch TVB Hong Kong dramas, or to help her look after my nephew.

Golden Week groceries shopping

Taking a short break from election, I became lazy to cook and decided to buy bento and listen to online FM100.3 in my room. Above bento costs 498yen, beautifully decorated and tasted good.

[011] Tin Pei Ling (Singapore special)

Image
I had supported PAP, but did our government take our support for granted by pulling in any fancy parrot they can find? I'm very angry. Angry for myself to have missed the deadline for overseas voter application. Thanks to youtube and facebook, I now see the light. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMW0ZIroCOY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_6x_5J78Rs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adLC3AO-p90 A MP who will stamp her feet when she "don't know what to say" A MP who said that healthcare cost now is "already quite low and manageable in Singapore" A MP who "don't have any specific policies" that she felt "strongly against" A MP who walks a lot and then tells us how much she'd walked first thing in a rally A MP who will be getting $15,000/month for the next 5 years Are we treated like idiots that we have no choice but to choose her team? Guess what? I think she'll get her $15,000x12x5= $900,000 (excl. bonus) and we...
