Mt Fuji Shibazakura Festival

Fuji Shibazakura sakura icecream

This is called sakura soft cream replacing cloudy Mt. Fuji. I finally got to go up as I waited for weeks recovering from a bad cold, waiting for friend's schedule, gambling the weather and fighting for the bus tickets. But everything didn't work out so I eventually travelled up by myself on Monday (13th).

Fuji Shibazakura
With great imagination, the misty patch on the right is supposed to be Mt. Fuji.

Some parts had begun to turn green. I was a bit late, but still ok!

Bought souvenir sweets for friends. Contains actual Sakura leaves!

sakura mochi
For my course-mates! (photo taken next day)

While people usually buy yakisoba or udon, I bought turkey leg for 850yen! Yes I was hungry and I sat at a bench, looking at sakura and munching my big turkey leg! So not Japanese... XD

I wanted to buy the sakura petal shaped macarons but everything was sold out by 2pm!!!

You don't have much choices up the mountain and one bottle of tea would cost you 200yen compared with the usual 120yen at Tokyo.

They sell the plants too! But they just look...different.

On my way home... Mt. Fuji playing hide and seek...very funny...very funny...

I was on Fuji in mid april 2011, exactly at sakura blooming, and I saw nothing like that. Prolly it was too early. I am so jealous!

I guess mt. Fuji is camera shy. Last year i went there with my family in nov, mt. Fuji is always hiding behind the clouds untill we left....

    1. Thank you for reading my articles! Actually I prefer to study and have a holiday than to work there because I do not like the Japanese work culture. Unless… you join a global company that does not have the Japanese work culture.
