Kamakura Day trip Sep 2013, part TWO

Hasedera 長谷寺 temple Hase Temple kamakura japan tour trip
I thought I left Hase area (the one with Big Buddha) for Enoshima in my previous blog post but discovered from my photos that I actually went to another temple: Hasedera (長谷寺). This is what happens when you don't blog soon!

There were signs all over the place to warn us of this bird of prey call Kite.

This place looks good for Ajisai (Hydrangea) viewing during June rainy season. Seemed more impressive than the one I visited.

There were flowers that you can buy as offerings for the temple. They trust that you would drop the cash into the box in front and then take the flowers.

As I said, I wasn't interested in temples but I saw a "Cave" sign and got interested.

The red gate called Torii 鳥居 marks the transition from our world to a sacred world.

You can put money and buy a candle to offer to the various gods inside.

An army of Benzaiten (the goddess that I introduced earlier)

The goddess Benzaiten 弁財天 is derived from a Hindu goddess. She originally represents only eloquence and music but because the word "zai" that means talent has the same pronunciation as "zai" for wealth, so the word got replaced and she represents wealth too!

  2. Looks great as always...So did you had any misfortune with Kite? Did he attacked anyone? Birds that loose respect of humans tend to be very agressive as Kite seems to be the case.
