Hydrangea Ajisai Festival at Toshima Park
Went to Toshima Park within Tokyo on 17th June (Monday) because of the rare clear weather from the rainy season!
Hydrangea in Japanese is called Ajisai and they bloom all over Tokyo during June.Lilies, called Yuri in Japanese, were also in bloom.
The Ajisai garden is actually inside an amusement park. Tickets cost a whopping 1000yen!
They spray water mist from time to time to make the place cooler for both humans and flowers! I think it must have been around 28 degrees with 60-70% humidity.
So big, feel like patting them!!! :3
Looking complex from below...
And so it says that there are 2 kinds of Ajisai: The wild one (top pic) and the hybrids that were modified (bottom pic).
I did not understand why the bench had a sign saying "Do not use for cosplay"...
White ajisai, very rare... but feels like going for a Chinese funeral...
I like this one, looks like sakura!
And there were weird cone like shaped hydrangeas too!
The train was very empty on my way back! I imagine a different story when I go back to Singapore.
Saw this poster indicating the condition of the flowers as I exit the station. Wanted to see the lilies but I think I would have passed the peak season next week!
wow so pretty!! these are super rare in malaysia! i would gladly pay 1000 yen to go in haha!
ReplyDeleteHee hee... I thought it was a bit too expensive since I only wanted to see the flowers.
DeleteJust found out that there's another terrific place to see more flowers at Chiba prefecture, an hour from Shinjuku, but I need to do my work now XD
Exellent report, thanks Eva :)
ReplyDeleteThe color of hydrangea flowers depends on soil acidity. I do not remember exactly how, something like: more acid - more blue, more basic - more pink, and white ones are on neutral soils ( sorry I could be wrong with that ). There are many of them blooming at our area, and I know a house which owners are watering hydrangeneas with different solutions to make them more colorful.
Great pictures, great macroshots and defocusing.
I am wondering, how it could be: no sweets, no ice-cream cone pictures. Could not beleive that. Is everything OK with You?
ewww ...
LOL, you have great observation!
DeleteActually I wanted to get matcha ice-cream...
But I haven't had lunch yet and there was a long queue for the western meal that didn't move at all!
I didn't have a mood for soba, which was faster, so I dashed for the flowers and finished my trip within 2 hours and went for a Macdonalds meal.
I was thinking of getting a softie but the guilt of burger and fries was too much XD
DeleteYeah, that world is not perfect ... :P
ewww ...

DeleteI am trying to slim down more so I have allowance to gain back after I return to Singapore XD

ReplyDeleteSaya pikir juga begitu!
DeleteI think so too!

ReplyDeleteI guess... there were cosplayers who wanted to sit at the bench to do their photo shoot!? Then post them somewhere...
DeleteActually I don't see the problem, unless they are planning to take for 30mins hogging the seats...
