First time to Tai Chung, Taiwan
Feng jia Night Market 逢甲夜市
This was my 3rd time to Taiwan but I had never visit Tai Chung City. Locals say that the only night market that is crowded all the time is the Feng Jia Night market. My brother booked an airbnb location close to the night market so it was really convenient to visit there almost every night. However because I was traveling with my mum, siblings and young nephew, so I had to help bring back food each time...
There were so many people there on Friday night and weekends!
They were interesting pastries like these charcoal egg tarts! Too bad we bought too much food already, not enough hands and stomach!
We unanimously agreed that this "Massaged Chicken" stall sells pretty good chicken chop.
Doesn't look fantastic, but it was very good!
Cingjing Farm 清境農場
Fans told me that it was a pretty good place to visit and you could actually spend half a day there! But too bad it was raining when we went and there was nothing much to do as all activities were held outdoor. Even the sheep dog chasing sheep demo couldn't repair the damage.
18 Degree Chocolate Factory 十八度C巧克力工房
There was much hype about this chocolate factory that was heavily promoted by local government.
Although chocolates tasted good, they were not impressive and overly priced. I would not recommend anybody to go there and waste time queuing for expensive average-tasting chocolates.
Miyahara Ice Cream 宫原眼科
Instead, you should visit this ice-cream place!
Look at the toppings! So many and in oriental style like pineapple cake!
Sun Moon Lake 日月潭
If you have a large group like 7 or more, you can book a small boat to cruise around Sun Moon Lake with a dedicated guide/captain for 2 hours.
He will also stop at a safe place for you to try steering the boat!
My nephew loved it! Anybody can be a captain!
You must buy tea eggs when you go to Sun Moon Lake. I like the taste but my mum felt it was average.
At the other side there was this small town with a lot of shops selling local products. There are performances during weekends when there are more tourists but rather quiet during weekdays.
This deep fried stuff is supposed to be famous and good but we don't really fancy it.
Fuyuan Bee Farm 福園養蜂場
Our guide challenged us to hold bees at this place but we only dared to hold the shelf. Don't worry because they smoked them first before letting us hold. They did not let us go to any "farm" but just a shop selling all their honey products. We bought lots of pollen and honey back XD
Muh Sheng Museum of Entomology 木生昆蟲博物館
Seriously we would not visit this place if not for our nephew...
It turns out to be a pretty good visit. I had never seen so many butterflies and caterpillars before! Everything looks like it's from Pokemon!
CATERPIE! XDDDDDD
Rainbow Village 彩虹村
This is actually a residential house that was painted by an old man for many years!
Our guide also found this nice angle to take forced perspective due to the slope! (if only my hand and rotate a bit more)
Very cool (fake) bus stop! I am inspired now to buy a place somewhere and paint everything to open as a tourist attraction! But first the money... ...
Glass Temple 鹿港玻璃廟
We were too late when we went there and the glass art gallery was closed so we could only see the light up. It was quite pretty.
I picked some glass stones from the floor as memento because the colours look so nice :P
Getting Around Tai Chung
The Best way to navigate around Tai Chung is to book a cab so if you have 4 people it would be pretty worth it. Alternatively, you can book a local tour guide with a van for 7-8 people for NT 6500 a day. We managed to travel to a lot of places within 2 days so it was a great deal for us and our guide was very friendly and helpful :)
