Blood sucking Japanese ATM 日本的吸血提款機

I think it's absurd to be charged for withdrawing your own money from an ATM that belongs to the same bank that you'd signed up with. Anybody knows if this happens in other countries too?

真是吸血鬼！竟然因為過了6點或在週末提款就得徵收105yen的費用。而且...是和戶頭的同家銀行提款機提款喔！其他國家應該沒這麼離譜吧？

    That is ridiculous. They might as well charge 10000yen. Why stop at 105yen.

    Withdrawing from weekends only?

    Parka: LOL 10,000yen would be officially daylight robbery XD
    Withdrawal after 6pm also incurs a 105yen charge... Guess we have to compensate those machines for doing OT!

    Convenience has a price, and is (always, at least from what I notice in Japan) charged accordingly.

      I think they charge too much here and there. Although they say that Japan is on deflation, I still find prices quite high. I think it must had been a really bad inflation back then...

    In the USA, your own banks ATM machines are always free. Some banks even refund the fees other ATMs charge so you never have to pay an ATM fee.

      I had BOA and Wells Fargo last time but I always withdrew from their respective atm.

Boiled coke and ginger lemon for cough

This post has nothing to do with Japan, except that I have the tendency to fall sick during long Japanese holidays like year end and golden week. So with weak Japanese medicine not working, and even with kiwis and lemon honey drink all failing, I resorted to my friend's advice: coke and ginger . It sounded unusual so I googled and found the recipe. Amazingly, many people swear that it works wonder to cure their coughs and sore throats, so I decided to try out of desperation because I had already been coughing for four days and four nights. Preparation: Put a can of coke (around 350ml) and sliced ginger into a pot and bring to boil, simmer for 10 mins. You can either add lemon when it was simmering or squeezed lemon juice after you pour into your mug. *I couldn't get old ginger from my Japanese supermarket so I used young ginger that was not so spicy. Verdict: I couldn't believe it, but it tasted rather good! Even my friend who disliked ginger said this remedy taste...
