BTW, I do not think that Japanese are 'slim' nation. There are many overweighted people too. And me, with my western constitution, did never think that me is looking fat compared to most of Japanese people I've met.

In addition to intelligence, "smart" was also formerly used in American English to mean something like "fashionable" or "up to date"... I don't know for sure, but I'd bet that's how it came into Japanese, during the Occupation...

Thanks ewww! The festival was 10 days long and I was so EXHAUSTED! Glad it's over! I'm now preparing for my last signing at Kinokuniya!
